Confederate Cavalry - Battle of Bull Run
At the climax of the Battle of Bull Run, Virginia's cavalry under Col. James Ewell Brown "Jeb" Stuart arrived on the scene and charged into a confused mass of Union troops from New York sending the Yankees fleeing to the rear. The Federal retreat added to the confusion of fleeing civilian onlookers from Washington, D.C. helped the Confederates be victorious at the First Battle of Bull Run on July 21, 1861.
This commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Bull Run in Manassas, Virginia, Saturday, July 23, 2011.
